Accused squatter says police set her up
Crime

A woman accused of squatting in a $3 million Kirkland mansion is now suing police, claiming wrongful arrest and damage to her reputation.

Jill Lane, 32, drew national attention summer of last year, after she and her children moved into a 6- bedroom, 9-bathroom home on 8th Avenue West in Kirkland. She claimed an 'ownership interest' in the house and at the time, thought it was okay to move in.

Neighbors were shocked it could happen.

Confronted by TV cameras, Lane was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, but her attorney now says the arrest was a set up. They said that she'd already moved out and that police invited Lane back to the house that day to make a scene for the cameras...

She's demanding money for damaged reputation and malicious prosecution.
